G'day mates,
🌲
Expectation 🏔️ ✅
Reality 🌋 ❎ :P
I was sick and sick of the heat, physically weak with all the stomach cramps and backpain, couldn't sleep etc, but still the energy just came🐉
Pompi woke up so early to prepare Tofu fried rice🍚 for everyone [for St. Thomas potluck] It took alot of time and energy. We missed second hour(first hour no class) because of that but lunch turned out so delicious ;)
I wore so much of sunscreen today, prepared water bottles, medicines, portable fans and everything🧣but the moment I stepped out, my sweat washed all the spf 50+ PA++++
Then I just gave up with ultra sun protection and skin disaster prevention. When I came home this evening and checked the mirror, I saw someone... no... something else, no offense to me but. anyways morning-
I was horrified to find out it was a travel by🚆train🧳(30 mins to 1hr) and then again by those tiny vans, open vans🚙...🌡️in this temperature?!
instead of a single school/travel bus ride from college to hill?!
They split us into groups by random lucky ribbon draws 🎀 I got hot pink.
And my group members were very coincidentally- Pompi, then Maria, Denzing Titus and others. best combo lol. The team titles were names of different apostles. My group was Peter ...
Pompi tied her ribbon on her wrist, Maria tied it on her ponytail, others tied it on belt buckles and bag straps. I tied my ribbon on my ID tag. All the different ribbon colours were so pretty.
The to journey was painful for my body, I put 🎧 ancient Chinese music to calm my veins but the visuals inside a crowded train DIDN'T match the vibe, it was football audience energy inside⚽
Ended up watching top 10 Bruce Lee fight scenes... ofcourse those're indeed calming.
Somehow we reached after awhile.
I accidentally kept poking my umbrella into Maria's eyes because she's tall, her eye level is my slap level☂️🌂 then got inside the tiny van FINALLY. The ride was visually fair, Maria paid for my ticket🎟️ I did not even carry physical cash because I was busy sunscreening myself. Imagine putting on everything for half an hour to just sweat it off within a two minutes under the sun.
Then we reached St. Thomas Mount🎉 <and now we'll climb all the unnecessarily slippery stairs, all the way up in boiling hot weather yay🎉>
But it was fun with friends who either pull you down or friends who you pull down with you while climbing the rocks. I saw many coloured candle shops, it was ugly, the colours :)
Why don't they sell colored water bottles with water 🌊
As you climb higher, you'll get to see the city map🗺️ all the tall city buildings in ✈️ 🛫 view. I saw planes taking off from the international airport. It was breath-taking... because we were forcing our last bit of breath to climb up before someone rolls down from top onto you or before you roll down like those cartoon scowballs⛷️🏂🏻 gravity here is crazy, got my knees shaky(that rhymes ugly well)... after reaching a point, they said no, don't stop, don't give up cuz' there's round II... I got up to beat the speaker of those words but then when I turned the turn. The destination was right infront of me, the speaker of those words were motivating me???🔊 That mountain was no Fuji mountain🗻 in the middle of a hot city🏔️?! It was🌋
I finished sipping 1.5L cold water. After we sat to rest, I took my unhealthy tasty snacks out for everyone. Max chilli lays and American vinegar one, I remember filling about half my bag with chips this morning, now I've one left.
<skips long details, too tired to type>
Potluck party 🍾
The food🥂 was food!
It was like samples of varieties of fried rice, nuggets, chicken cutlets, veg pasta , macaroni, noodles, fried chicken, tofu,... I drank cola and sprite as well.
Some innocent eyed stray dogs started barking right behind us but no one bothered to leave the plates🍽️ also the stray cats' fur patterns... mismatched/mixed just pretty to look at.
We all sat in a huge circle, then after we finished eating, our seniors and professors sat to ate.
Midst of the chaos, my dear friend Eine...
Someone came out of the gents restroom looking horrified... that coming out was nor a walk, nor a run, neither a jump... It was a mix of all three. It was Eine... "Bro, I did not see any mirrors inside bro, I knew it was not ladies"
I love my friend Eine <3
After that we headed inside the museum side. It was filled with numerous ancient artefacts archaeologists excavated from digging the hill eg. old form of physical cash, models of- ancient chapels? Bible scenes exotic paintings, etc...
Then we went down and saw all the many relics (so well arranged and guarded)
After which Samuel sir took us to the main chapel?
It was filled with details of the 12 apostles and mainly Thomas.
Sir started narrating each of the 12 stories. It was hot inside and we sat down to listen to him (and his story of visiting Cuba... Coca cola owner story... it's a huge story)
We were finally done after that. I went to check out the city views from an old grandma's cozy house cafè set-up. She was super nice to us.
We clicked pictures and sang church songs while climbing down the slippery stairs...
Honestly, coming down was more difficult but again the people were unhinged jokers so everyone enjoyed it.
Ride back home was even better, pretty sunkissed air, laughing with pretty girls, ate alot of snacks (bet I gained two lbs)
The day was good, I would do it all again... maybe not the heat adventure I deserve a heavy bath and a heavy sleep now.
some random tree leaves, common pretty sights on hill tops
